Cute bike
My eight-year-old daughter really loves this bike, but I can't recommend it because it came with a punctured tire (we had to replace at our expense right away so she could ride it on her birthday), and the hand breaks are really not designed for littler hands. We will have to replace them too; she can't use them as they are too tight now.

I would highly recommend not buying this bike online. Let your child try it out for size and ease of use, and ensure all parts are working properly before you are stuck replacing them right away.

When a little boy gets too big for a 20" wheeled bike the Cobra 24 is the way to go. The heavy duty steel frame will hold up to the trials of childhood while the 40mm suspension fork will make heading down the dirt paths much more fun. Add in both front and rear twist shifters and he will have lots of gears to experiment with. The linear pull front and rear brakes will make stopping easy. Put your little one on a Cobra 24 and watch in amazement as he grows - both on and off the bike.

Better than Walmart
This bike is heavy, but is the best I found in the $200 price range. Very easy to put together. Came with all necessary tools. My son, 10, really likes it. It has a low stand over height for a 24". It came with a broke shifter in the box, but one call to Diamondback and new set is on the way. Ordered a kickstand and speedo to install. Will replace Sunrace shifters with Shimano trigger style ($32 EF-51). It looks great.

Nice bike..but
The delivery was fast. It got here just in time for my sons birthday. It was quite a savings over Dicks sporting goods. With a little mechanical know how I was able to assemble it in 2 hours. It takes a little work to adjust the breaks correctly. The directions are not really clear here.
We noticed on of the shifter housings was broke on arrival. The diamondback Amazon rep replied quickly and sent out a new set. The only thing was it was not he stock shifters. I had to make some adjustments to make it work.

Overall my 11 year old son loves the bike. He can climb any hill in our neighborhood now!

Great bike!
I bought this bike for my 6 yo. I wanted to get him a bike he could grow into and this fit the bill perfectly. Assembly was and the pike was well packaged.

Great mountain/gear starter bike for kids
Bought the bike for my 9 yr old son and he loves it. Gear changer is a little hard if your kid
has small or weak hands, but my son got used to it after a few weeks.

You save like $60 by getting it from Amazon rather than a retail store like Sports Chalet. The bike is 80% assembled in the box already, you just have to assemble: wheels to frame, pedals to frame, seat to frame, braking pads to each wheel, and adjusting the braking handles.

But be forewarned the instructions are awful and weren't any help at all. I ended up just looking at pictures online to make sure I got things right. The most difficult part is the braking parts, overall it took me about 90 minutes but should have only take like 30 minutes if the instructions were any good.

Oh one last thing, it doesn't come with a kickstand so be sure to buy that also when ordering online. You will need an adult bike kickstand, not a kid one. I ordered the "BV KA36 Alloy Adjustable...
