Too short
This shoe's sizing is almost a full size too short. ie. a 43.5 is equivelent to most brand's 42.5 or maybe 43. Also the toe box is too narrow in comparison to the rest of the shoe. Pearl Izumi makes a good MTB line of shoes in the X-Alps but this model must be from a different supplier or something as its certainly not sized the same at all!

Sized too small
Be sure to try a pair of these on before ordering online to ensure correct sizing. I comfortably wear a 45 in other brands, but the 45 in this PI Men's Race MTB shoe is not even close. I had to send these back due to sizing. The fit seems to be on the narrower side.

Otherwise, it seems like a decent shoe for the money. The ratchet is nicer than others I've used. The sole is a plastic, not rubber.

I am giving two stars because the sizing is so far off from other brands.
Great Shoe for the Money
I have had a number of shoes and while my favorite is still SIDI these have a very similar fit and feel for a lot less money.
I would definitely recommend this shoe if you are used to a more Euro fit i.e. Northwave, SIDI, and Diadora..

If you are on the fence about buying cycling shoes for your spinning class, get off that fence and buy them. You don't need to shell out $300 on pro shoes, these shoes are fantastic. You can ride faster and transition from sitting to standing without worrying about the straps becoming loose or your foot flying off the pedal. You can also pull up on the pedal, as well as push down, which works more muscles. If you tried that with sneakers and foot straps, the straps would snap.
I'm a woman and these are guy's shoes, but these are sleek, they're stylish, and they've got an aggressive look to them that the women's shoes lack. They also have free 2 day shipping with my student Amazon account. They're also great because they are mountain bike shoes, and when you get off the bike, the tread is deep enough that you're not walking right on the metal clips (which you must buy separately) like you would be on road shoes. Comfortable, Lightweight, and Cool Looking Shoe
The Pearl iZUMi MTB shoe is very comfortable and tighten up real well with three velcro staps. Hardware screws on easily and is adjustable. Dirt and mud easily comes off the vinyl with a damp rag. Rugged construction. This is my first pair of MTB shoes and I wasn't disapointed. I normally wear 10.5 size, but it felt small so I exchanged them for a 1/2 size larger and they seem to fit better with a single or double pair of socks. Great shoe, very happy with this buy!
Very comfortable
I got these to replace my aging Specialized MTB shoes. They are a great replacement and work much better than the old shoes. If you use SPD cleats you will easily find a comfortable spot for long rides.

Great Mt Bike Shoes!
These shoes are exactly what I expected. Stiff (as they should be for biking), yet comfortable. Size chart is true. I wear an 8.5 in US sizing, and I wear a 41 in Pearl Izumi. These shoes seem like they will hold up well, and they seem to be made with good quality/construction. They are just as beautiful as they are in the picture. They take SPD cleats. Great shoes. I highly recommend them!

functional, comfortable shoe
Shoe is comfortable to ride in and easy to get on and off. The quick release on other shoes I've owned haven't worked well. Not sure how durable they are--yet.
fine product - but didn't know what to do.
these were very comfortable - but I really didn't know how to compare them - I ended up sending them back and just going to my local bike shop for shoes - now they didn't have as many options but I was able to try them on walk around and have them put the SPD cleats on the bottom of them - which is mandatory for these shoes (and all spin shoes) and they are an extra $20.

At my local shop I bought a nice pair of black ones in an 8 and had them put on the SPD cleats and gave me socks for $100 plus they also said I could come back and get them tightened whenever I need to. Plus I gave money to a mom and pop shop.

Great bike shoes
This is my first pair of "bike" shoes. They look exactly as they do in the picture. The sizing for me was spot on. These are very comfortable shoes whether on the bike or walking around off the bike. Once tightened and buckled they are very secure and hold my foot well. It goes without saying these are my first SPD shoes. Clipping in was easy and intuitive. It happened naturally for me on the first and all subsequent tries. This says to me that the placement of the cleat mounting point is spot on. Getting out of the SPD clip is also easy. I bought the Shimano SM-SH56 Cleat Set. Attaching the cleats to the shoes was an easy intuitive task. The shoes work well with the non-cleat side of dual platform pedals as well. I don't notice the cleat sitting on the pedal. The shoes are very lightweight and appear well made. The fit and finish is flawless. I live in the desert southwest and the shoes have good ventilation during these hot summer days.

Great Shoes
I'm just getting back into mountain biking and these shoes are fantastic. I'm a size 9 normaly so i ordered a half size bigger based on other reviews and they fit perfectly. They are so light weight and well constructed. There is alot of tread on the bottom which makes walking around in those hike a bike situations great. These shoes are very comfortable. They also breathe extremely well. The velcro and buckling system makes putting on and taking off these shoes so easy. The bottom of the shoe is very rigid which helps transfer alot of power into the pedals. If your using clipless pedals i would put your cleat on the first set if mounting holes and push them all the way forward. This will put the ball of your foot right on the pedal which gives you more power on your down stroke. The style is...awesome. I love the way they look, feel and perform. I would recommend to everybody. Also, ordered with free shipping and they arrived within a few days. Can't beat Amazon. I order everything...

Pearl Izumi x-alp drift II is a cycling comfort shoe
These run one size small so be sure to up your size. They are light weight and have great ventilation. They wear like a sport sandal and no sock are required. Very soft inside and nice top (tongue area). I could not run in them for long but easy to walk in.

I bought these shoes for my husband and he says they are very comfortable. Only issue is they run a size small. Once he got the larger size tho, they were good.
Pearl iZUMi Mens X-Alp Drift II
I'm currently in platform pedals, plan going on clip in a month or so. I like this shoe a lot. I live in a hot climate, they are cool and comfortable. Can walk on them without an issue. You don't even need a sock. If you get them wet they dry pretty quick and they are easy to clean with mud.

My platforms pedals have the mini screws for traction, I had taken them off. Because I slide of the pedal at times when I'm off balance with these shoes, I put them back on and now it is a non issue. I can see that these will be nice when I go to clipless pedals as well. Great support up front and back.

I agree with the other reviewer in where they do run small in size. I had to exchange them for one size higher than I normally take. If you MTB for pleasure and intense exercise these are nice. If you are into competition I'm not sure if this model would be enough.

Great Product
Just got a new pair of these shoes for my cycling classes - what a difference it makes! I love it and it made my spinning more powerfull!
To tell you the truth sizing chart on Amazon is absolutely incorrect. This is one of the reasons why I bought my pair in the bike shop. My size is European 38 and I ended up with Pearl Izumi in Size 40!!! My American Size is 7.5 and my fit is narrow. I am afraid that these shoes were originally marked with incorrect size while in production. Do not get confused by this wrong sizing chart. Apart from that you need to spend additional money for cleat set, it is not included in the price. So my rate would be 4 for the product and 1 for Amazon.com.

First cycling shoe
This is the first cycling she I have ever worn, I use for spin class. Works great on bike, fits great. I bought 1/2 size larger and it was perfect. I had to get clips put on separate but that was easy enough. The shoe does not come with clips.
super shoes!
Hot lookin' shoes! Super! They clip in very well, and clip out. I am a begginer cyclist and this is an important factor for me. But I also wanted something that felt well-made, and sturdy, and they do. However, buy this product one half size larger than your size, as it runs small. Serious-had to return 1st order, but it was worth it. I do like these shoes a lot.

Size up 1
I found on the PI web pages that my mountain bike shoe size (43 EU) would match a large in this cover. After reading reviews of this and the road shoe barrier cover and the note on the PI web page that you should go up one size for one of their X-Alp shoe, I chose an XL instead which is sized for shoes from 44.5 to 46 EU and very glad I did. The XL is a very snug fit over my Shimano SH-MT43-G MTB shoes, a large would not have fit. These took a bit of work to get on the shoe, and I found putting them over the toe and pulling towards the heal with the shoe off my foot until the toe was seated in position and the cross tie under the cover was in place at the instep of the shoe worked best. The velcro fastener at the back of the shoe appears to be very solid / appropriately aggressive to ensure it doesn't come lose while riding.

Overall this looks like a very nice cover that should extend my riding temperature range and time beyond what I found the PI Pro toe covers good for...

Superior shoe covers
The biggest weakness to every shoe cover I've tried has consistently been the method of binding the sole around the cleat openings. These shoe covers have finally deviated from that experience by implementing a design in the sole that is certainly the best I've ever tried, and probably also the strongest feature of these particular covers (they also have great form fitting shape and warmth).
The kevlar binding is extremely strong and the way they line the rim of the shoe, instead of coming down over the walking tread is perfect. Well worth the price imo, very happy with how they've executed this design.

I'd mention that the sizing seems to run slightly small (I've tried two different sizes), and the Velcro closure takes some getting used to.
they work well on my Saloman road shoes with recessed cleat
I bought the Mtb model because of the thicker soles on my road shoes. It still takes some effort to get them over my shoes but they work well once they are on. After reading another reviewer's advice I went online to the manufacturer's site to research the proper size to order. That was good advice. These shoe covers fit very well. My only complaint and the reason I did not rate them as a "five" is these covers would be so much better (easier to put on) if there was just 1/4" more material is the flap that wraps around the back of the leg. Wiyh the loop and hook closure, it takes much effort to stretch the flap far enough to close it properly.

Great Shoe, Watch Size
It's always a gamble to order shoes online as you can't try them on first. So reviews really help. I just got the shoes 30 min ago and have them on my feet right now. I wear a size 10 in nearly every shoe I've ever tried on and purchased. I read the reviews and went one size up on the chart, so ordered a 45. They fit perfect. Nice looking & comfy. Sizing chart is wrong!
These are sharp looking shoes, fairly stiff and not too heavy. They are quite comfortable. Sizing chart is wrong. These are my third set of Pearl Izumi's and you have to move up one full US size.
So, if you're a US10, you need to order an EU45.
Great shoes - follow size advice
The PI website conversion chart showed 8-1/2 US = 42 Euro. I ordered size 44 and they fit perfectly. The shoe is comfortable for walking and is well-designed in every detail--a quality product.

These cycling shorts are made from a light polyester-like fabric and sport a single zippered pocket. These shorts include the Pearl Izumi Men's Liner Short which can be purchased separately. The shorts are reasonably priced when you consider the cost of the liners.

The material is light but stays in place as you ride. The amount of material is not skintight nor saggy & rarely gets caught on my saddle. The single zippered pocket is ample enough to hold a medium wallet (located on the lower portion of the right leg) Edit: The single, limited pocket is the worst of these shorts. More pockets in other locations would have been very desirable. Limit what you carry or store stuff elsewhere with these.

The elastic waistband adjusts with several buttons on each side of the shorts. A pair of loops inside the waistband clip to the short liners (to avoid sagging?) I purchased a medium size for an approx. 35" waist and only a minor adjustment to the waistband was...

OK, so I'm 5'-10" and I normally wear a size 36 in Levi's jeans and sometimes a 34 in store brand casual shorts. I ordered a size L in these Pearl Izumi shorts and perhaps wish that I'd ordered a size M. The "cinch" elastic waist is adequate to hold the shorts up, but I fear that they make my ass look 'baggy'. I love the fabric, actually the fabric is totally awesome. I wish that they had more pockets, then I'd wear them almost every day. The one zipper pocket is good, you won't loose your stuff, but will only hold a car key or similar. These shorts are long and will probably cover your knees unless you are 6-foot tall or taller (I'm 5-10). I thought the color would be more like khakki (tan) but it is sort-of a cross between khakki-tan-green. Overall, I'm pleased with the sorts. I have used the padded liner for biking and it seems quite adequate.
Ok bike shorts
Bought these as my first pair of mountain bike shorts. They look cool and wear fine, but not sure I like them entirely. Not enough pockets for holding stuff. I thought I would like the removable (padded) liner, so that I could chose to wear them or not, but they are cumbersome to deal with attached. Best off to put them on first, then clip on, if at all. Got another pair with liner attached and seems to be much easier to get in and out of attached.

Should be a 5 star BUT.....
Let me start by saying for the 4 months that i was able to ride in these shoes i LOVED them unconditionally. I was pushed towards Mavic by a good friend whose quite an experienced rider, but quite frankly Mavic womens mtb shoe is white...i was never allowed to wear white to go play in the mud as a kid, i'm not going to do it as an adult. So I stumbled upon these and was convinced i had made the best decision ever. They fit true to size, unbelievably stiff, have great traction (i do a lot of "hiking" when i ride :-/ , super comfy, and look fantastic. No complaints. However, last month i snagged my foot doing a log over and *BOOM* shoe was done. The ratchet strap is attached to the leather buckle by a "hook and loop" type plastic fastener. The plastic broke and now my shoe is useless as i can't ratchet down the most important strap. Mind you, I am not an aggressive rider, I fall much harder than i ride...and this was barely a snag that did the shoe in. I will admit i have extremely...

Great for Spinning!
I bought these since I've been going to a spinning class for over a year now. They are great-fitting, lightweight and have given me a boost on the bike. Even without the clips or SPD on - I have used them with the regular bike foot strap, and they really make the difference. I get compliments on them and I can walk everywhere no problem:) I am size 8, so I bought them 40 and it's perfect! 38=US 7, 39=US 7.5, 40=US 8 and so on:)

Sizing a hassle, but nice shoe.
Tried the 42 womens as I normally take a US 9.5, but the european sizing is a bit off as it felt more like a 9. Toebox was a bit short and width with no room for swelling feet or anything but super thin socks. If it had been available in the 42.5 I would have reordered it because it seemed to be the best of both worlds, comfy to walk in and cycle in both flat pedals & clipless. The 43 would be too long in the arch area for me. Good shoe, but it the 9-10.5 range is hard to fit. I hated to send them back.
Comfort & Sizing
These cycling shoes are amazingly comfortable. It has a hard sole so it functions well as a pair of cycling shoes, but it feels (and looks) like a pair of sneakers when walking on them.

I wear a size 6 1/2 and 38 fits well. I have another pair of Pearl Izumi cycling shoes w/ clips and size 38 fits well also.
