New York Lock with Flexible Bracket
Most of you reading this probably already know about the Kryptonite New York U-Lock, if you don't; you can read some reviews here about the lock itself: Kryptonite New York Standard Bicycle U-Lock with Bracket ( 4-Inch x 8-Inch). Only thing different about these two are the mounts it comes with, so I'll be reviewing that.
This mount feels really sturdy and it has a strap that can fit around just about any part of your bike. The strap is weaved into a rubber strip which keeps it from moving and it also has a swiveling head. Which is great, because you can fit it at any angle or angle it anyway you want to. You can actually turn the way your u-lock mounts. The mount on the lock itself is adjustable also. If this would've had a normal bracket, I wouldn't have had room within my frame to hold this and a water bottle. Great Lock, Terrible Mounting Mechanism
I ordered this and the fahgettaboudit lock but ended up keeping this one. I like the extra length of the kryptonite because it gives more leniency when attaching bike to rack. Love everything about the lock except the mounting mechanism to attach the lock to your bike frame for easy transport. Its simple enough to attach and seems sturdy enough, but after a short amount of sidewalk riding (very minor bumps) the mount came loose and the lock started swinging side to side, occasionally hindering my pedaling until it was adjusted. After 3 days of re-tightening/fiddling with different mounting locations I gave up on it and am currently just transporting it in my back pack. Otherwise great product!
Solid Lock
It is a solid lock and it will keep your bike VERY safe. I live in Chicago and I can confidently lock it up and walk away for as long as I'd like. Overall, it is an excellent lock.
