Light and Motion Taz 1200 Lumens Bike Light
The All-in-One Solution unlike any bike light out there. Whether you are swerving through the chaotic single track of downtown traffic, cranking out the big ring on a late road ride, or shredding a secret little stash of trails; the Taz is your companion to lead the way.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Great light, terrible mount
My first ride with this light was a mixed blessing. Turning on the light was akin to being in a stadium. The beam throw is great, both distance and width. There are five settings: High, Med, Low, Pulse and Flash. Even the low setting was brighter than my old Stella. Excited, I rolled out for my night mountain bike ride. The problem came when I started going down some rough trail and to my surprise, the light came off the mount and tumbled down ahead of me, leaving me blindly riding by feel. Fortunately I knew the trail well. The issue is that the light mounts onto the bar with a connector that is round and slots into a shallow hole in the mount. While this is handy for adjusting the beam horizontally, there is no latch on it that stops it from being bounced out of the mount. After taping it with the electrical tape I carry for just such an occasion I was happily pounding the trail again.

So, great light, but terrible mount that likely won't even survive a bumpy...

Brigtt!
This light is incredibly bright for its size.
Very smooth wide beam pattern, I'd say too wide.
Throw is so-so.
At high mode I feel as if sitting on the driver's seat of a compact car.
Rubber bracket is no good if you on and off frequently.
I replace to the quick release bracket of other light. L&M should offer solid type.
No mode memory.

Troublesome bracket, expensive price, but worth buying.
As Good as Daylight, and Seems Well Mounted
I ride on narrow path beside a dark causeway, often with oncoming (usually high beam) car headlights. Even worse, there are drunks and crazies riding unlit bikes toward me on the same narrow path, not to mention joggers and walkers. I have been using a good 1 watt light (http://www.amazon.com/PDW-LED-Cosmic-Dreadnought-Headlight/dp/B004YIC57K/), which is fine with street lights, or even on a dark path with no oncoming headlights; but it is not nearly bright enough to alert me to all the hazards I face in time to avoid them.

Enter the Taz 1200. With this light, I can ride as fast as I want at night, with no fear. The light cuts off somewhat up high, so it doesn't seem to blind oncoming cars, but it would still alert you to overhead obstacles like tree branches. It does a great job illuminating to the sides and close to the bike, and even has separately controlled side lights for visibility. Don't take my word on the light beam, though.
